Tomorrowland is the most popular festival in 75 countries around the world. The festival has been held annually in Belgium since 2005. Every year, the world's biggest EDM artists perform there - no wonder this festival is so popular, because this music is extremely popular.
It is number 1 in France, Spain, Belgium, the Netherlands and Poland, as well as in North Africa, Australia, India and Japan. For a small country like Belgium, that's quite an event! In total, the festival is searched for 1,055,530 times a month on Google worldwide.
Things are very different in the USA and Canada, where people are most interested in Burning Man. Even though the big names of the music industry are missing there, the festival concept attracts an extremely large number of people.
This festival is based on the collaboration of all participants and encourages each individual to make a creative contribution to build a unique community. As a result, there are many fans of this festival, also known as "Burners". There is no commercial activity or advertising throughout the festival.
In the USA, this festival is by far the most popular festival with 301,000 searches per month - Coachella comes in second with 201,000 searches per month, or 2/3 of the total.
Burning Man is also number one in Canada and, interestingly, in Ukraine and Belarus.
Coachella, the most popular "mainstream" festival in the U.S., is only second with 201,000 searches per month. However, it is the most popular festival in many Asian countries, including Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines and South Korea. In South America, it is the most popular festival in Colombia, Ecuador and Peru.
With a total of 659,380 searches per month, it ranks third worldwide. But that's just Google searches - if you look at Instagram, Coachella is the most popular festival on Instagram with a total of 5.6 million hashtags in posts (Tomorrowland has 5 million, Burning Man only 2 million).
In the UK, Ireland and Germany, the most popular festivals are those in their own country: In the UK, the legendary Glastonbury with 165,000 searches/month; in Ireland, Electric Picinc with 33,100 searches/month; and in Germany, Rock am Ring with 74,000 searches/month.
No wonder - why travel halfway around the world when you can see the best bands and artists live in your own country?
